Course Overview
This course was originally developed in conjunction
with the NCMA and Pre-School Learning Alliance
to meet the requirements of the National Standards.
All child minders in England and Wales must now
pass a first aid course. This should ideally
be taken while they are registering, but certainly
within six months of receiving their registration
certificate.
The course offers a comprehensive guide to administering
First Aid to children and each candidate also
receives a manual.
Who is it for?
This course is for those responsible for the
care of young children, particularly child
minders and people who work in Early Years.
Our course is also now recognised as compliant
with the EYFS and can be used for the purpose
of registration as an Early Years professional,
and SURESTART approvals scheme. It can also
provide evidence for those working towards
an NVQ in Child Care and Education (Level 3).

Management of the unconscious casualty
CPR for Child and Infant
Choking in Child and Infant
Blood Loss and Shock
Bleeding from special areas
HSE regulations and RIDDOR
Accident book
Administration of medication
Burns
Fractures
Recognition and management of minor illness and
infectious diseases
Head injuries ‘bump sheet’s’
Embedded Objects in the ear, nose etc.
How will I be assessed?
There is no formal ‘exam’, the trainer
will continuously assess you, and each candidate
will receive a certificate valid for three years
How long is the course?
Minimum of 12 hours (normally run over 2 days)
This course can be run in-house for up to 12
delegates.
How Much will it cost?
First Aid for Child Carers (12hrs) £80 + vat per candidate
£800 + vat per course (on-site up to 12 candidates)
