Course Overview
This comprehensive course aims to refresh the
first aider’s skills, providing any recent
updates in First Aid procedures. Candidates
will refresh their previous knowledge through
a series of practical scenarios with an acting/reacting
casualty and instructional input.
Who is it for?
The course is only suitable for
those who already hold a current First Aid at
Work certificate, which is nearing expiry.
You may take the refresher course up to three
months prior to expiry and up to 28 days post
expiry.
What
is covered?
Assessing the casualty
Dealing with an unconscious casualty
CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation)
Treating wounds and bleeding
Shock
Injuries to bones, muscles, and joints
Burns
Injuries to the eye
Poisoning
Recognition and treatment of illness
Transportation of casualties
Client specific subjects
There are also approximately 5-7 scenarios with
a
trained casualty
How will I be assessed?
The course ends with an independently assessed
practical exam. Our Trainer and the ‘casualty’ also
continuously assess you.
If successful, you will receive a First Aid at
Work Refresher certificate, which is valid for
three years.
How long is the course?
Minimum of 12 hours (normally run over 2 days)
How much will it cost?
First Aid at Work Refresher (on site) £1200
+ vat per course, up to 12 candidates
First Aid at Work Refresher (scheduled courses
in Leeds and Sheffield) £120.00 + vat per
person
