Course Overview
To give staff a basic understanding of health
and safety, and their role in developing a
safe workplace. Also the knowledge to undertake
simple risk assessments in their work environment
Who is it for?
The course is suitable for all staff as a refresher
or initial training.
What is covered?
To develop an appreciation of health and safety
law
Appreciate the legal duties of employers and
employees
Obtain an overview of corporate responsibilities
for contractors, agency personnel, visitors and
others
To understand the different types of law that
impact on health and safety e.g. common, civil & criminal
law
Gain an understanding of the penalties for breaching
the above law
Understand the language and methodology of the
risk assessment process
Gain a sound practical appreciation of how to
carry out risk assessments
Be introduced to practical work place tools that
delegates will use when they return to their
individual work places.
You will then be able to:
Have a thorough understanding of health & safety
and risk assessment. Undertake real life risk
assessments where they will build safe systems
of work, method statements and consider special
issues such as personal protective equipment
(PPE) and training needs.
Delegates will be encouraged to discuss their
own work place experiences and begin to assess
existing measures to control any hazards with
balance and measure.
How will I be assessed?
You are assessed via a continuous assessment
and practical exercises.
How long is the course?
Minimum of 4 hours
This course can be run on-site for up to 12 delegates
